The Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, today inaugurated a series of multi-dimensional, high-impact initiatives at the Convention Centre of The Ashok, New Delhi, marking the joint celebration of 60 years of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and 70 years of The Ashok Hotel.

In the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Minister of Tourism & Culture Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Dr. Shrivatsa Krishna, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Dept. of Investment & Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Shri Arunish Chawla, Secretary, Dept. of Public Enterprises, Shri Moses Chalai, and Member Niti Ayog, Dr. Vinod Pal the ceremonial lamp is illuminated, marking the auspicious commencement of the evening. Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Suresh Gopi, graced the occasion virtually.

To celebrate seven decades of distinguished service by The Ashok, ITDC, in coordination with the Department of Posts, releases a Special Commemorative Postage Stamp. A film celebrating The Ashok’s spatial luxury is also launched, alongside a stylised #AR postcard that brings to life the film through an embedded QR, and an ITDC Gift Card, a comprehensive brand loyalty solution.

ITDC launches the cover of an illustrated book, “A day at the Hotel”, the book is being created in collaboration with renowned publisher for children’s books, Amar Cithra Katha. This is in line with the setting up of a National Institute of Hospitality Management to facilitate youth employment across the country.
